Corporate Work

The Brief

Requestor: Head of content on the Marketing team

Timeline:  4 Week turn around

Goal:  Create a thought leadership site that will resonate with the market by leaning into the issues that our audience wants to solve/learn

Contributors: Devin Reed- Content, Bruce Layman- Content, Jessica Louie- Lead Designer, Justin Fox- Project Manager, Hanson- Web Agency

Process

This project started how most do with a phone call and loose brief from Clari’s head of content Devin Reed. Devin really wanted a place to house several different types of content that focused on a business’s revenue process but not hitting people over the head with the fact that it was coming from Clari. Like most projects, this one had a pretty tight timeline but we did have a pretty good budget to work with (but as yall know, that can get eaten up quickly so we had to be really careful).

We worked with a web agency on our corporate site named Hanson based in Toledo so the relationship was there, they were familiar with our brand, and I was comfortable with the quality of work and positive attitude they brought to the table. So we reached out and were like, “Yo, I don’t care how you build it but if we give you the wireframes and content, can you build it in less than 2 weeks?” and they were like, “Totes”. So we jumped right in.

Broken down into steps

  • Step 1: Intake form and internal review

  • Step 2: Kick-off call with all relevant players

  • Step 3: Find the right agency and get budget and timeline approved with them

  • Step 4: Plan. Look at the target delivery date and start working backwards from there and define each team members action items and due dates allowing time for revisions.

  • Step 5: execute wire frames, content strats producing articles

  • Step 6: Review wire frames and mood board with requestor

  • Step 7: layout design and graphics

  • Step 8: Hand over design to web agency to build

  • Step 9: Design reviews and critiques agencies work

  • Step 10: Plug in final copy, refine, and test with agency

  • Step 11: Review final microsite with all stakeholders. Fine tune and apply final tweaks/feedback and get written approval

I definitely want to take a chance to give Devin Reed a shout out here. Devin had just come on board at Clari and this was one of if not the first big project he did with my team. He was able to work with each person on my team to collaborate and really evolve this piece as a team. Here is our group figma file that we built frames and used to brainstorm and critique.

Results

Some very broad metrics we got right away were the microsite generated almost 9,000 unique visitors (445% of our goal) and 500+ subscribers (500% of our goal) in its first month. Not bad 😉
